The Miami Patients’ Guide to Invisalign® Treatment
Straighten Your Smile with Dr. Grussmark
Traditional metal braces are an effective treatment for some patients, but they come with a few clear disadvantages. Most of all, many patients avoid braces because the metal wires make them feel self-conscious every time they smile.
Invisalign presents a solution to this problem by offering clear aligners that are nearly invisible, allowing you to live your life with confidence and freedom.

Invisalign vs. Braces
Invisalign offers a range of unique benefits that traditional braces can’t match. Some of these include:
- Discreet — Invisalign trays are clear so they’re nearly invisible when you smile.
- Removable — The aligners are removable so you can take them before meals, allowing you to eat and drink without restrictions.
- Comfortable — Each pair of aligners is individually trimmed to fit your teeth perfectly.
- Fast — Invisalign straightens your teeth up to two times faster than metal braces.
- Predictable — Our advanced iTero® technology shows you the final results of your treatment before it even begins, giving you total confidence in the procedure.
The Invisalign Process
Your Invisalign journey begins when you schedule a free consultation with Dr. Grussmark. During this visit, he’ll use our iTero Element scanner to create a 3D virtual model of your mouth. These scans are far more accurate than messy and inconvenient dental impressions.
Dr. Grussmark will send the data from your scans to a laboratory, where your aligners will be custom-designed to match the unique shape of your bite. After you receive your first pair of aligners, you’ll swap them out for a new pair every two weeks until your treatment is complete.
Each set of aligners only works on specific parts of your teeth, subtly and painlessly shifting them into proper alignment. Depending on your case, the total treatment duration is typically about a year.
Invisalign vs. At-Home Aligners
There are now many providers, such as Smile Direct Club, who offer aligners that can be delivered right to your door without ever visiting a dentist. Some of them are even clear aligners that offer a similar appearance to Invisalign.
While this may sound convenient, there’s no good substitution for a certified orthodontist’s expertise. The truth is that you never know what you’re getting with at-home aligners, and any orthodontic treatment is risky without a professional involved to monitor your treatment.
The only way to ensure you receive safe and effective care is to visit a licensed orthodontist like Dr. Grussmark. As the only diamond-plus Invisalign provider in Dade County, he has the experience needed to deliver the spectacular results you expect.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Invisalign hurt?
Invisalign aligners are customized to your teeth so they’re far more comfortable than traditional braces. You may experience some mild discomfort at first, but this should dissipate within a few days.
Is Invisalign covered by insurance?
Most dental insurance providers offer the same coverage for Invisalign as they do for braces. It’s unlikely that your full treatment will be covered, though insurance should help to reduce your overall cost.
How do you clean and maintain your aligners?
Invisalign makes it easy to maintain your aligners. Just brush them every morning when you wake up and every night before you go to sleep. Also make sure to brush and floss after meals before re-applying your aligners. This will prevent crumbs from getting trapped underneath your trays.
Can I remove my braces and get Invisalign?
In many cases, the answer is yes — however, Dr. Grussmark will need to examine your teeth and determine if Invisalign is the best course of treatment for you.
Is Invisalign removable?
Yes — the aligners are easily removable for your convenience.
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
The total length of treatment depends on your case, but it typically takes about a year.
What can’t I eat and drink with Invisalign?
Since the aligners are removable, you can eat and drink anything you want with Invisalign. Just make sure you remove your trays before every meal.
Can you drink alcohol while wearing Invisalign aligners? What about coffee?
You can enjoy any beverage with Invisalign as long as you remove your aligners first. Don’t drink anything other than water while you’re wearing the aligners or you risk permanent damage.
